Recommended Texts:

  1. Bridging the Gap in Health Care 1 – The Basics of Wholistic Assessment (BTG1), and/or
  2. Wholistic Integrated Assessment, a Teacher-Student Guide (WIA – 12 DVD set and manual)

This workshop can be made available for those who would like some extra tutorial and training on how to Assess, Treat & Rehabilitate clients in a more integrated and holistic way.  Keep in mind;

1) A symptomatic regional approach looks at the relationship between the tissues/pathology causing symptoms and the symptoms themselves.

2) A holistic approach looks at the relationship between everything else going on in a person’s being/life (spiritually, psychologically, energetically, physically, environmentally, past-present, etc) and the tissues/pathology causing symptoms (which I call the “WHAT ELSE”)

Whilst traditional biomedical education focuses on relationship 1), understanding relationship 2) requires a holistic integrated approach to uncover.   This workshop will demonstrates how to assess for clues identifying “WHAT ELSE” is present and show how this can be integrated with the tissues causing symptoms and thus help to understand, explain and more effectively treat the whole pattern of dysfunction (cause to effect), therby helping to restore more balance and well-being to the whole person.

We will explore how to make our techniques effective and to be able to apply them to tissue needs with deeper awareness of the inter-relationships between the various components of the whole.

It gives participants an opportunity to practically explore in a group setting some of the materials covered, especially in the 12 DVD set on Wholistic Integrated Assessment, A Teacher-Student Guide.

This workshop covers:

DAY 1:

  • Principles of  holistic assessment and treatment
  • Developing the mind and senses as screening tools
  • Assessing and treating from an “open minded” perspective
  • Gaining meaningful information from observation, palpation and motion testing
  • Finding the primary problem (primary area of A.R.T)
  • Identifying Health
  • Integrating and expressing findings (i.e. tracing the pattern of dysfunction from cause to effect)
  • Treating with an awareness of how the findings relate to the condition suffered by the patient and the whole.

(Note on ART: A= Asymmetry, R= Range of motion (Quality) abnormality, T= Tissue texture change).

DAY 2:

  • A review of holistic assessment methods
  • The neurophysiological principles behind successful application of technique.
  • Diagnosis and its importance to successful Treatment & Rehabilitation

This workshop can be made available for groups interested in enhancing their MET skills.

Enhance your ability to allow the body to guide you as to a) the correct tissues and relationships to include when applying MET and b) the correct forces to use, the correct direction of resistance and duration of effort (time) to hold in order to get the best tissue response (as guided by the Central nervous system/tissue response and not guesswork)?

Learn how to make your MET more effective, eliminate guesswork and avoid errors and lack of understanding of what is really happening when applying MET

With a simple clock exercise principle, a sound understanding of the neurophysiologic principles behind the successful application of any technique and an awareness of how to listen to the Tissues, MET or any technique can be applied more successfully to the various regions of the body.

This workshop covers;

  • The neurological and musculoskeletal principles behind the application of M.E.T.
  • The indications/uses of M.E.T.
  • The steps required to successfully perform M.E.T.
  • How to use awareness of relationships and the clock exercise to make MET much more effective (i.e. how to listen to the feedback of the tissues)
  • Common errors in the application of M.E.T.
  • How to diagnose dysfunctions using M.E.T. principles
  • How to successfully perform M.E.T. to the lower and upper regions of the body

DAY 1 covers MET Principles, General Assessment, Diagnosis & Treatment of the Pelvis (pelvic and sacral dysfunctions), and lower extremity (Hip, thigh, knee, lower leg, ankle and foot)

DAY 2 Continues on with Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine (Lumbar, Thoracic and Cervical) and the upper extremity (shoulder girdle, upper arm, elbow, forearm and wrist)

See WORKSHOP TIMETABLE and/or contact Paul on 0417 110 755 for details on workshop dates, availability and costs.

This workshop can be made available for groups interested in enhancing their Articulation skills.

Learn how to make your ARTICULATION techniques more effective, eliminate guesswork and avoid errors and lack of understanding of what is really happening when applying Articulation

Articulation is a low velocity/moderate to high amplitude technique often used to improve range of mobility in joints BUT a focus on just joints or even range of motion in joints is but a small part of what we can really achieve with this technique.  It can be also used to restore relationships between other tissues, layers and organ systems of the whole person as well as to include relaionahips between health and disease, and between spiritual, energetic, mental and emotional issues and their physical manifestation, and other links.

Improving Range of motion should not be the primary focus for any treatment because secondary range improvements come naturally after primary QUALITY improvements are resolved.  Although range may be limited, this does not tell us why range is limited.

The WHY comes from Looking at FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS and relationships are evaluated via the QUALITY of articulation (or communication) between them (function) – not the range of motion in itself.  Range may be limited but quality, Ok and thus focusing on Range is a secondary distraction, not a primary concern.

The “WHY” also comes from an understanding of the underlying PATTERNS of DYS-FUNCTION setting up the symptomatic tissues and not by focusing on symptomatic tissues themselves?  Understand these patterns of relationship and success with articulation or any treatment will improve dramatically.

Thus, Articulation’s true value – when utilised with AWARENESS of what is really going on in the body, is to improve the QUALITY of RELATIONSHIPS between the various tissues and organs of the body.

This is what is explored in this Workshop.  We will look at how we can better understand the PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS in need of attention within the human body and then, explore the principles and concepts we need to keep in mind in order to make the application of our technique and treatments more affective in restoring health and wellbeing to the whole.

When performed with AWARENESS it can help improve functional relationships between the following:

1)       Any Two AREAS of the Whole (often between Primary and secondary areas of dysfunction)

2)       Any two components, tissues or layers of the whole, and more importantly

3)       Between HEALTHY Areas/Tissues and UN-HEALTHY Areas/Tissues

Some of the concepts we will be exploring are?

  • What is HEALTH and Dis-ease
  • Clues to TRUE Dysfunction (A.R.T.)
  • Primary and Secondary dysfunctions
  • Issues with a focus on pain and Range
  • Motion testing – exploring QUALITY and RELATIONSHIPS
  • Finding the EDGES of the Dysfunction pattern, Finding Health, treating with an awareness of both
  • Treating relationships between regions, tissues and layers, working from a balanced point of contact (with awareness of the whole)
  • Modifying techniques to address key components
  • Regional Articulations for the entire upper (covered in Day 1) and lower body (covered in Day 2)

This workshop offers an introduction to those considering the full 6 day workshop (below) as well as anyone who wants to learn about the different elements of self; to develop self-awareness and how to self-heal.  Suitable for practitioners and the general public.

It covers the following;

  • The holistic (multidimensional) Model – what this includes, how it inter-relates with the traditional biomedical model and works how they can work together to optimise health outcomes.
  • Using the mind and creative visualisation as diagnostic tools
  • The energy centres – discussion and self healing exercise
  • The dimensions (Levels of being – spiritual, intuitive, mental, emotional, energetic and physical etc) – discussion and self healing exercise
  • Healing through time – how to recognise past traumas and release them – discussion and self-healing exercise.

5 MULTIDIMENSIONAL ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP: (Using the mind and cranio-sacral therapy as diagnostic tools) – 6 DAYS

Set Text: Bridging the Gap in Health Care 2 – Multidimensional Assessment

This workshop takes traditional assessment and treatment to a much deeper level utilising the inherent self-healing potential and life energies within in order to help restore health and function to the whole person.

By the end of this course you should have a basic understanding of how to:

  • Assess and treat multi-dimensionally using the mind as a tool
  • Identify areas of health and A.R.T/patterns of dysfunction within the whole being
  • Listen to the body’s self-healing mechanisms and treat from health
  • Use Cranio-Sacral Therapy as a tool to treat wholistically
  • Self-heal through awareness and visualisation
  • Integrate mechanical and bio-energetic methods

DAY 1: Begins with an introduction to the different modalities of healing. We then explore wholistic concepts, the energy centres and their influence on the physical mechanism and the use of our major diagnostic tools (the mind and the senses) in order to uncover bio-dynamic/multidimensional areas of health and of A.R.T. We then discuss the principles of cranio-sacral therapy and its traditional application to human anatomy and physiology. The day finishes with a practical session on feeling inherent motion and treating from health.  We also explore the concept of treating in the moment and self-healing while we treat.

DAY 2: Continues our exploration of the energy centres, self-healing and the practical application of cranio-sacral theory to the cranial base and sacrum. Again we finish with a practical session on treating our findings from health.

DAY 3: We begin to explore the many dimensions of being with self healing exercises (from health). We also continue our practical application of cranio-sacral theory to the cranial vault, the face and other systems of the body. Final practical session is to treat from health.

DAY 4: Continues with self-healing exercises. We also focus on integrating traditional (physical) examination procedures with biodynamic and cranio-sacral methods of examination. We explore observation, palpation and motion testing from without and within and explore treatment processes.

DAY 5: Continues our examination of the multi-dimensional aspects of a person’s nature (spiritual, mental, emotional and energetic, etc).

We will explore;

  1. Time as a component in healing
  2. The various rhythms (inherent motions) that may express themselves during the healing process
  3. Ray energies and
  4. Forms (mental, emotional, etc) and their impact upon the human body.

DAY 6: This day is designed to integrate all of the information experienced throughout the course.  We will explore

a)     The WHOLE and its manifestation in TIME and SPACE – this includes uncovering the co-ordinates of health and dis-ease in time and space

b)    Relationships (between the various components within the self, between the self and others in our environment and between the self and the whole)

c)     The Laws of healing.  We will also discuss any other concepts the group wishes to explore.

The course is designed to explore each component of the whole through discussion, self healing exercises and practical sessions. It helps to train our minds to understand what it is we are experiencing with our senses (and thus to experience, acknowledge and express the co-ordinates of health and dis-ease). Finally, it helps us to understand the best place, in treatment, from which to witness and maximally support the self healing mechanisms in their work of re-establishing health to the whole person.

(Note on ART: A= Asymmetry, R= Range of motion (i.e. Quality) abnormality, T= Tissue texture change).
